Max Hass

Max Hass is an experienced intellectual property and business attorney, with a particular focus on copyright and trademark matters. He has extensive transactional experience and has handled litigation in state and federal courts across the United States.

Also a working musician, Max has focused his practice over the last 10 years on working with musicians, artists, filmmakers, and entrepreneurs in the creative sector. He has advised businesses of all sizes and industries on trademark and intellectual property protection, and advocated for artists to get fair and equitable deals. Max zealously fights for plaintiffs who have been wronged by employers, collaborators, and business partners. Outside of his law practice, Max has developed and presented a series of educational workshops for creatives and business owners, and continues to partner with universities and other institutions to bring empowering education to the communities that need it most. He has been a guest lecturer at Tulane University, University of California Los Angeles, the University of New Orleans, University of Denver, University of Northern Colorado, Regis University, University of Colorado – Denver, Colorado State University, New Orleans Video Access Center (NOVAC), the Joan Mitchell Center, the ELLA Project, New Orleans Metronome, Colorado Business Committee for the Arts, several other organizations, and numerous music conferences and events.

Outside of work, Max spends his time reading, playing bass, drums, and guitar, writing music, and learning piano. He also enjoys cooking, yoga, baseball, and getting outdoors as much as possible. He is conversational in French and is learning Spanish. He is originally from upstate New York, lived in Philadelphia and New Orleans during his formal educational years, and has now returned to New Orleans after 6 years in Colorado.
